I know you know all of Lisa’s books! Isn’t she great? We met at SCBWI’s Golden Kite Awards years ago. She was winning SCBWI’s Sid Fleischman Humor Award for MILLICENT MIN, GIRL GENIUS. I was winning a Golden Kite for THE DIRTY COWBOY. At the table was her editor, Arthur Levine (the Harry Potter editor!) The Harry Potter series wasn’t finished at that time. There were many secrets to uncover and it was all SUPER hush-hush. Lisa spent the evening whispering Harry Potter questions in her mother’s ear, so her mother could ask Arthur for top secret info! YES! (I regret to inform you that I did not get any secret intel into Harry Potter, but it was fun!) I’m so glad SCBWI put me at her table. We’ve stayed in touch since then, and have recently become pen pals over snail mail. Writing letters is GREAT fun. I recommend letters!
